Pressure Washing vs Soft Washing: Which Does Your Property Need?
Pressure washing uses high water pressure to blast dirt off hard, durable surfaces like concrete, pavers and brick. Soft washing uses low pressure and a cleaning solution that kills mould and algae at the root, and it's the safer choice for roofs, render, painted walls, cladding and timber. Many jobs use both — high pressure on the driveway, soft wash on the house.
Use pressure washing for
Concrete driveways, pavers, exposed aggregate, brick paths, car parks, loading docks and industrial floors.
Use soft washing for
Tile and metal roofs, rendered and painted walls, weatherboard and cladding, eaves, and anything that can crack, strip or let water in under high pressure.
Why the wrong method costs money
High pressure on a tiled roof can strip the coating and crack tiles. On render it can blow out patches. On timber it furs up the grain. The cheaper quote isn't cheaper if it damages the surface.
Why soft washing lasts longer
Pressure removes visible mould but can leave roots behind. Soft wash solutions kill the growth, so it takes longer to come back.
